Police install CCTV after brawl

Three people have been arrested in connection with an alleged street brawl in a mid Wales town.

Two members of the public suffered injuries during the incident in Newtown, said Dyfed-Powys Police.

Police said they plan to install a CCTV camera in the street where it happened.

A number of officers from the town, nearby Welshpool and Llanidloes were called in after trouble broke out on Sunday at about 0200 GMT.

The three have been released on bail while further investigations are carried out into allegations of assault, said Dyfed-Powys Police.

The incident happened in Newtown's Wesley Street.

There are already 10 CCTV cameras scanning the town's streets. The system was installed in 2001.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said a CCTV camera would be placed in Wesley Street and officers would also be "making use" of a mobile CCTV unit during the busiest times of the week.
